Volunteer for Empty Bowl 2018!

SSFS's Empty Bowl Dinner wouldn't happen without the dedication and effort of many, many volunteers! From bowl-making and glazing to cooking and serving, volunteers make this special event possible.

Volunteer Opportunities (Adults)


Saturday, February 10

  • 10:00 am - 1:00 p.m - Prep (Help move bowls, oversee student unpacking, washing, sorting, setting auction tables. Please note that kitchen prep volunteers must be adults.)

Sunday, February 11

  • 10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Set Up (Prepare soup and general help)
  • 12:00 - 2:00 pm - Set Up (Prepare soup and general help)
  • 2:00 - 4:00 pm - Set Up (Prepare soup and general help)
  • 4:00 - 6:00 pm - Dinner Support (Serve dinner and general help)
  • 6:00 - 8:00 pm - Dinner Support (Serve dinner and general help)
  • 7:00 - 8:30 - Clean Up (Wrap up help)

Volunteer Opportunities (Students)


Please note that student volunteers must be in eighth grade or older.

Saturday, February 10

  • 10:00 am - 1:00 p.m - Prep (2 students to open boxes, 1 to pass bowls to dishwasher, 1 to load bowls in dishwasher, 2 to load clean bowls on to tray carts.)

Sunday, February 11

  • 1:00 - 3:00 pm - Set-up (Help set tables, hang posters, move bowls)
  • 3:30 - 5:00 pm - Traffic Control, Shift 1 (Help maintenance with traffic flow. Dress to be outdoors!)
  • 4:00 - 7:00 pm - Dinner Support (Bus tables, wash silverware and glasses as needed, collect tickets for bowls)
  • 5:00 - 6:30 pm - Traffic Control, Shift 2 (Help maintenance with traffic flow. Dress to be outdoors!)
  • 7:00 - 8:30 pm - Clean Up (Help clean-up with fresh energy, run dishwashers, wrap up)

SSFS students will receive service hours for volunteering for Empty Bowl!
